A young man was shot and killed in a Delta driveway Friday night. Police say that he did not live at the home he was shot outside of and that they believe it was a targeted killing.

Surrey man shot in Delta
The man was shot shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday. Some media reports say he was in a car outside of the home, which is in the 11800 block of 75A Ave in North Delta, while at least one report indicated that he was standing in the driveway. Police have not commented on exactly where the man was when he was shot.
"Our members found a male had been shot and died as a result of his injuries," Delta Police Sgt. Sarah Swallow told media. "He is a 24-year-old Surrey man. He doesn’t live at the house. He was visiting friends here."
Police say the house is known to them and they've been there on multiple occasions. Sgt. Swallow said that they had been there for "various different incidents" but did not elaborate on how many times they've attended the home. "We do believe this wasn't a random incident and the person was targeted," she said.
Neighbors hear gunshots
Neighbors told CBC News that they heard popping sounds that sounded like fireworks and then the sounds of a car speeding off.
It's unclear if this targeted shooting was gang-related but Sgt. Swallow said that determining if it was will be a part of their investigation. While it was not a random shooting Sgt. Swallow said nonetheless there is a concern for those living nearby.
“There’s obviously the huge concern for the neighbours because bullets don’t stop," she said. "They don’t drop to the ground if they don’t hit their intended target."
Police did not say if they have a suspect in mind. They have yet to release the name of the dead man.
