Bocelli was dressed to impress, and was backed by an incredible orchestra. He epitomized sheer talent, class and he sang with grace and from the heart. His powerhouse version of "Con Te Partiro/Time to Say Goodbye" was heartfelt, captivating and it gave the fans goosebumps. His vocal range was truly incredible. He deserved each and every standing ovation that he received throughout the entire Madison Square Garden show.
Tony winner Heather Hedley joined him on "The Prayer" and their duet was moving, impressive and tender. While his entire set was flawless, one of the highlight vocals was the operatic classic "Nessun Dorma" where he literally blew the roof off of "The World's Most Famous Arena."
Ever-gracious, Bocelli thanked the conductor and the orchestra. He delivered a soaring rendition of Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York," which was a fitting tune for this evening's set, especially for the New York audience.
The Verdict
Overall, Andrea Bocelli is a natural entertainer. There were no gimmicks. Only a man with impeccable talent, a solid orchestra and gifted musicians. His passion and ability to connect with a crowd were infectious. His voice sends chills down on one's spine. It is truly an eighth world wonder in itself. His live concert at Madison Square Garden garnered 5 out of 5 stars.
