Regarding his new Charley Pride tribute album, he said, "We are excited about it because it's an album that we released last year. We put a couple of more songs on there, so it could be exclusive for Cracker Barrel. We added George Jones' 'Why Baby Why' that Charley re-recorded in 1982, and 'Let Me Live,' which is a gospel song of Charley's that he loved. Hopefully, people will enjoy listening to this CD."
The album is slated for released on November 3, and he listed "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'," his collaboration with Darius Rucker as his personal favorite on the album. "I was lucky enough to have Darius sing with me on that song. Darius is just a great guy, and looking back at his roots, he is a country guy," McCoy said.
When asked what he loves most about Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, he said with a laugh, "The food. I love their chicken n' dumplins. I was born and raised in the south. My wife is so proud that I eat so much starch."
McCoy added, "Not only does Cracker Barrel have great food, but their Old Country Store has great music. They have been doing music for quite a while now. Sometimes, their demographic is older, around my age, and they want to have physical CDs still."
This past summer, McCoy was touring with country superstar Blake Shelton as part of his "Ten Times Crazier Tour," and one of those tour stops was at New York's Madison Square Garden on August 1. "That worked out great. We had such a good time with Blake and I think he was happy with it," McCoy said.
With a musical career that spans three decades, one of McCoy's favorite venues to play live is the Grand Ole Opry, and he noted that it is his ultimate dream to someday became a member of the Opry. He has had three platinum and four gold albums, as well as two chart-topping singles, "No Doubt About It" and "Wink."
