Music for Relief campaigns to aid Ebola prevention

The charity Music for Relief has been campaigning to raise funds to help tackle the Ebola problem. As the campaign draws to end, Digital Journal surveys some of the highlights.

Music for Relief's Ebola Prevention fundraising challenge will be coming to a close this Friday night at 12:59 p.m. ET. The campaign is spearheaded by U.S. hard rock band Linkin Park.
Music for Relief is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing aid to survivors of natural disasters and the prevention of such disasters. Since its inception in 2005, Music for Relief has raised over $5 million for survivors of multiple disasters across four continents including the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, hurricane Katrina, China’s Wenchuan earthquake, a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe, and the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The contributions for the Ebola campaign provide personal protective gear for aid workers in Africa who are struggling to stop the spread of the deadly disease. The money is going to International Medical Corps. As an example of the spend required, it costs approximately $350 for one entire protective suit. To date the campaign has raised almost £200,000.

The top fundraiser will receive a flyaway trip to see Linkin Park, Thirty Seconds to Mars and AFI in San Diego on September 16, which includes VIP passes, hotel and airfare.
The next 5 top fundraisers will each receive a limited edition Linkin Park Series poster signed by the members of Linkin Park.
The remaining 10 highest fundraisers will receive a personal thank you video from Linkin Park.
With the campaign, every dollar you raise will be matched by an anonymous donor who has generously agreed to step in and double the funds.
