According to a report in Zee News, the screening will be held on Thursday, August 21, two days before Season 8 begins its twelve-week television run, at the 39th annual Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, held in Scotland's capital city.
The announcement means that the first full adventure for Peter Capaldi's Doctor, Deep Breath, will now be shown in three of the UK's capital cities ahead of its television premiere, which is due to take place on Saturday, August 23 in several countries simultaneously.
Premieres have already been announced for the Welsh capital, Cardiff, and the English capital, London, for Thursday, August 7, the date of the commencement of the first-ever Doctor Who World Tour.
Doctor Who Season 8, starring Peter capaldi as the Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara, is comprised of 13 episodes, including the 2014 Christmas special. Deep Breath has been written by Moffat, along with several other of the upcoming episodes. Other writers this year include Mark Gatiss (Game of Thrones), Gareth Roberts (Wizards vs Aliens) and Steve Thompson (Sherlock) — all returning — as well as newcomers Jamie Mathieson (ALT) and Peter Harness (Is Anybody There?).
Later this season, the Doctor and Clara will be joined by two new companions — Danny Pink (Samuel Anderson) and Courtney (Ellis George) — however, for their first story, they will meat up with some old friends: Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax, who, collectively, make up the Paternoster Gang.
