Al Jazeera reported the news first and are drawing a connection between comments made by Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman and the event which left reporters shaken but unharmed. While there has been significant media coverage the shooter has not been identified. Due to the volatile nature of the area finding out who shot into the building may prove difficult.
Some media outlets are stating that this is an attack from Israeli forces. Israeli Defense Force officials have released reports denying any involvement in the attack.
Reporters in any war zone face significant risks, as was the case with Al Jazeera freelance reporter Mohamed Al-Massalma, killed by a sniper in Syria. Gaza itself has an extensive history of journalists being injured or killed.
Tensions are rising on both sides of the Gaza strip after reports of a missing Israeli soldier and the bombing of a hospital which left five dead have escalated the conflict. Countries across the world have something to say about events in the Gaza Strip, but are for now leaders are only offering to help negotiate.
