Police in Bath, Ohio, 29 miles south of Cleveland, have reportedly been contacted to increase patrols near LeBron James' home after 3 p.m. today. Akron Beacon Journal reporter Phil Trexler expects a decision tonight.

Around noon central time on Thursday, Trexler tweeted the increased police activity is to protect his family and neighbors following what he believes will be the announcement of James signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers as a free agent.
Tom Winter, NBC News investigative reporter, tweeted a conflicting report saying the Bath police are not preparing for any kind of announcement from LeBron, nor are patrols in the area being increased.
LeBron James met with Heat GM Pat Riley in Las Vegas for more than an hour on Wednesday , ESPN reports the meeting ended without James signing a contract. The Heat have been active in free agency, signing Danny Granger to a two year $4.2 million deal, and Josh McRobersts to a four year $23 million deal. These signings should not be taken as an indication James is leaving Miami, rather this is Miami's effort to improve the Heat's roster and lure James back.

The Cavs have also been active recently, completing a trade yesterday to clear enough cap space to sign James to a max contract of $20.6 million. In a three team trade, the Cavs sent Jarret jack and his $9.5 million contract to the Brooklyn Nets, and Tyler Zeller and his $1.7 million contract to the Celtics, according to ESPN. The move gives the Cavs $21.7 million in cap space to sign James to a max deal of $20.6 million per year.
Free agency has been largely stagnant recently, many teams and players are waiting for LeBron's decision before finalizing deals of their own.
