At this event, he shared the stage with country music sensation Chely Wright.
Prior to singing the song, he noted that he received criticism for making the "All-American Boy" video, but he explained that it is not "a gay video" nor a "gay story." "It is a story of unrequited love and it happens with everybody. Love is love. It's all the same people," Grand said.
The Chicago native posted the video of his performance on his Tumblr page, where he was backed by a four-piece band.
"All-American Boy" had a sultry vibe in the beginning, where a music listener can easily recall Lady Gaga's "You and I" ballad, and then Grand interacted well with the crowd, and shook their hands, as they sang the lyrics from the chorus back to him.
He seemed thrilled to have that direct one-on-one interaction with the fans and smiled, and towards the end, he had them waving their hands up in the air.
"Seattle, you light my fire," he exclaimed, midway though the song. "Yeah, you do."
"I can't even begin to say how special this performance was for me. #SeattlePride you were amazing! Thank you to all my #GrandFam who came out and made it an experience I don't think very many of us will ever forget. I did meet and greet for at least 2 hours. It was so amazing to get the chance to meet so many of you! You are all beautiful and loving and inspiring to me. Your support is everything. #AllAmericanBoy #SteveGrand #GrandBand #pride #loveislove #equality," he posted on his official Facebook page.
The Verdict
One can tell that from a live performance of this caliber, Steve Grand enjoys what he does, and he puts a lot of heart and emotions in his vocals.
