If you walk out on the street and ask someone that knows absolutely nothing about professional wrestling, and ask them to name a wrestler they would probably give you four names; The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and John Cena. John Cena is arguably the most recognizable figure that WWE has ever had, and that a pretty big accomplishment when you consider that The Rock and Hulk Hogan have been in the same company.
Since debuting in 2002 John Cena has done everything in the WWE; he’s headlined WrestleMania, starred in movies, and will without a doubt be in WWE’s Hall of Fame one day. With all of this begin said what is there (if anything) left for John Cena to do?
Cena is a 14-time Heavyweight Champion, that is only two title reigns shy of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, who is a 16-time champion. Cena right now is at the point in his career where he has done anything and everything that any wrestler could possibly dream of. There is one thing left though, one thing that has never really been talked about on WWE programming, and that is whether or not anyone could catch, or even break Ric Flair's world title record.
John Cena is one of the greatest superstars that has ever stepped foot into a WWE ring; whenever his music hits he gets a reaction, it may not always be a good reaction, but it’s a reaction none the less. If there was ever a wrestler that could pull off trying to break this record it would be John Cena, simply because of the relationship he has with the WWE fans. If you’re a fan of WWE you know that Cena is one of the hardest-working wrestlers in the business, and you can see it. Since 2002 John Cena has gotten better every time he's stepped inside the ring. If you watch one of his old matches you can tell that he’s not really that graceful, but when you watch Cena today it almost second nature.
This Sunday John Cena has the opportunity to become a 15-time champion at the Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View. If john Cena does win, from now until the the time he retires his name is going to be mentioned along side of Ric Flair's.
Right now John Cena is 37 years old, so his time in the company is slowly coming to an end. Even if Cena does not win the match Sunday it would be hard to believe that Cena would not get another title shot in the future. If Cena does win Sunday he will achieve something that only one other man in the history of the business has accomplished. So can Cena get one step closer to catching Ric Flair's record of 16 title reigns? We will find out Sunday.
