Costa made news around the world when she was hired for a position with the French soccer team Clermont Foot Auvergne 63.
The induction of Costa was promising at first. She stood out as a beacon for women's equality in many news stories. She mentioned that she did not want any "special treatment" when she first went in as well.
Journalists are still investigating what caused this change of heart. Some are betting on the expectations team owners had that she would be "normal" being a factor in leaving. Other voices such as those at the Guardian believe it was nothing more than a publicity stunt to begin with.
According to a report from the Miami Herald Costa will not be telling the media full details on why she left this team. She allegedly discussed her grievances with management and took her leave.
News has arisen that she left for unspecified "personal reasons" which just makes the situation more mysterious. Clermont President Claude Michy mentioned that she had "developed a problem of confidence in the situation" which led to the resignation. Whatever the reason Clermont has lost a valuable asset for the promotion of their team.
