It is made up of Jack O'Neill and Cary Pierce hence their stage name Jackopierce. This musical project was recorded live at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, Texas, and one can sense the audience's energy throughout the record through their cheers and clapping.
This project was released on their independent record label, Be Music and Entertainment.
Over the course of their career, they have recorded 10 studio albums and they have toured three different continents, nine countries and 44 states.
They have shared the stage with such musical acts as the Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, The Wallflowers, Sheryl Crow, Jewel and Alanis Morissette, among many others. Although they went on hiatus in 1997, they returned five years later in 2002 for a run of sold-out shows in Texas.
Their CD opens with "Three of Us in a Boat," which features stunning acoustic guitar instrumentation and smooth vocals. It is followed by "Rain" and "My Time," both of which are great storytelling songs.
A highlight in the first half of the album is the soothing ballad "Please Come Home To Boston," which features soaring harmonies from the duo.
Another gem is "Promise of Summer," which has catchy lyrics and a soft beat. "Free" is a collaboration with Patrice Pike and Matt Scannell. "Vineyard" is another vocal and instrumental Jackpierce masterpiece.
It closes with a previously unreleased track, the upbeat "This Is Our Time," a tune about them being ready to "change the world" since their time has come and the stars have aligned, and they are ready "to take it."
The Verdict
Overall, Jackopierce succeeds on their latest studio effort. If you are a fan of acoustic pop-rock singer-songwriters, this album by Jackopierce is for you. The CD has a Dave Matthews vibe which makes it highly appealing. It consists of 17 tracks in total, which for some listeners may be a lot, but the true fans will want to listen to them as much as possible, since it is high-quality music. For music listeners who are just discovering Jackopierce, this CD is a great introduction to their music and it gives them a sense of their artistry. It is raw and organic, without being overproduced. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. Here's to the next 25 years for Jackopierce.
