Powered by the popular custom Android ROM Cyanogenmod 11, the company aims to make a device to please everyone in terms of display, processor and battery life and has repetitively rested on its slogan "Never Settle." The company aims to do better in terms of hardware than the other manufacturers and has said that they will "spare no expense in our quest for the perfect smartphone" as "We don't accept the excuse that you can't create a perfect phone at a disruptive price. We're doing this right."
Pricing details today emerged for the sixteen markets that the OnePlus One will initially launch in. The price is typically around the $400 (£290, €350) mark which is really not bad for a handset with a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 MSM8974-AC processor, 3Gb RAM, a 13Mp camera, 5.5" display and up to 64Gb of storage. The battery is also a large 3100mAh unit. All in all, the device generally outperforms the much more expensive — $300 more — Samsung Galaxy S5 by a considerable amount.
Although people are treating the claims of a "perfect" smartphone from a small start-up company with scepticism, these prices are promising and we won't have to wait too much longer to know whether the OnePlus One really does make the other phones in the world go to the grave as launch is just a couple of weeks away.
