Two teens arrested in attack on driver who struck boy

Two teens have been arrested in Detroit for beating a man who allegedly struck a boy with his vehicle. A 17-year-old and a 16-year-old were taken into custody Saturday as the leaders of a mob that attacked the man according to authorities.

CBS News stated that Bruce Wimbush Jr. of Detroit is charged as an adult with assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm. The 16-year-old is scheduled to appear in a juvenile court. It will be decided later this week if he will be charged as an adult.
Steven Utash, age 54, remains in critical condition after the April 2nd attack and is in a medically-induced coma. According to Detroit Police, an 11-year-old boy stepped out in front of Utash's truck and was struck. When Utash got out of the vehicle to check on the boy he was viciously beaten by a group of men before even reaching the injured boy who suffered a broken leg in the incident. Utash is not considered to be at fault.
Utash's family has set up an online fundraiser to help pay his medical bills. To date, more than $50,000 has been raised.
"I never expected this. ... The whole nation is rooting for him to wake up and be OK," his daughter, Mandi Emerick stated according to the Huffington Post.
The police are continuing their investigation and expect to identify more suspects.
