Steve Grand smashes Kickstarter campaign goal

Posted Mar 31, 2014 by Markos Papadatos
Singer-songwriter Steve Grand came in like a "Wrecking Ball," to quote the Miley Cyrus song. His mission was to raise $81,000 on Kickstarter for his new CD and he quadrupled that goal thanks to his fans.

An openly gay independent artist, Grand's Kickstarter campaign for his debut studio album is the No. 3 most-funded music project in the history of Kickstarter; moreover, it is the No. 1 most-funded Kickstarter project among musicians that have never been associated with a major record label.
From his fan pledges of 4,905 backers, he raised $326,593 as of yesterday, which was more than four times the original goal. His debut studio album All-American Boy is slated for release this spring.
"I'm overwhelmed. Grateful beyond measure. Truly moved by what you've done," he said graciously to his fans, who are known as his GrandFam, for their impeccable support.
Grand added in a press statement, "You've given me all the motivation I need to work my heart out for you. Nothing is more important to me than honoring the trust and love you've placed in me to tell honest stories, our stories, and to make a great album."
His current single is the critically-acclaimed "Back To California."
Congratulations to Steve Grand for this "grand" accomplishment.
