Hailing from Bowling Green, Kentucky, The band is made up of Alex Kandel on vocals, principal songwriter Tony Smith on guitar and vocals, drummer Justin Wilson, bassist Lee Williams, Scott Gardner on keyboards and Josh Martin on lead guitar.
Tony Smith chatted with Digital Journal about their latest studio album and their upcoming Vans Warped Tour.
On the song selection of the new CD About Last Night, he stated, "We had a batch of 44 songs and we stumbled into variations of those demos. A lot of them were blues-rock or retro-rock throwback from our first record. Then we started noticing an emergence of this style and we cherry-picked the ones that we felt complimented each other. It was mainly just about feel and we wanted to make sure it had good experience with ups and downs throughout the whole album."
He added, "We put so much blood, sweat and tears and hours upon hours of work into it. I hope we didn't let the fans down with this CD and I hope they come to the show and join the family."
Smith selected "Take It Off" as his personal favorite track on the record. "We tried several different ways and we had several variations of this song. It was such an uphill battle with that song and when we got the first mix back, it was so relieving and it was such a joy to listen to. It was one step in the direction that we always wanted to be in. It felt like the band matured a lot and it was very surprising," he said.
This past Janauary, they played a show at New York's Bowery Ballroon as Digital Journal previously reported and they will be returning to New York this summer. On July 12, they will be a part of this year's Vans Warped Tour in Jones Beach in Wantagh, Long Island. "New York is a place we visit frequently," he said. "Check out our tour dates on this year's Vans Warped Tour. It is going to be great. I'm like a sponge. I love to soak up every experience, every new venue and every new city.
