Actor Malcolm Tierney has died

Respected actor Malcolm Tierney, who played roles in "Braveheart" and "Lovejoy," has died at the age of 75. Tierney was associated with a number of stage and screen roles.

Malcolm Tierney (born 25 February 1938) was an English actor who appeared in many film and television roles. According to Contact Music, he passed away on February 18, 2014.
For people in the U.K., Malcolm Tierney was widely known for his role of Tommy McArdle in soap opera Brookside, where he played the character from 1983-87. Tierney took a significant role in BBC show Lovejoy, playing the lead character's main rival in three series of the lTV drama.
International viewers will recall the actor from the Mel Gibson movie Braveheart, in which he played the villainous magistrate who executes William Wallace's wife before meeting a similar end at the hands of the Scottish rebel.
Among the various tributes paid was one from London's Southwark Playhouse, where the actor had recently appeared as Sorin in Chekhov's The Seagull. The Playhouse tweeted "Remembering Malcolm Tierney today, a magnificent actor who was so brilliant in The Seagull. RIP."
