Speaking to local and national media outlets inside the Mayor's Office, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford emotionally apologized to city residents and vowed to stay on the job for the sake of the taxpayers.

The mayor will not resign or take a leave of absence, but rather “get back to work.” Instead of stepping down right now, he will give Torontonians the opportunity to vote for him or someone else during next year’s municipal election, which is expected to be contentious.
“God bless the people of the city of Toronto.” Those were the words of Mayor Ford as he departed from a long-awaited press conference. The emotional mayor was on the verge of tears during his prepared statement and promised that the apparent drug use would “never, ever ever happen again.”
He apologized to his family, his staff and his council colleagues and assured the city that he has nothing left to hide. “I sincerely, sincerely, sincerely apologize,” said Ford. “God bless the people of the city of Toronto."
Ford did not take any questions from the media.
