In last night's Capital One Cup third round: Manchester United overcame Liverpool, Arsenal needed penalties to defeat West Brom and Birmingham provided the shock of the nights action by knocking out holders Swansea City.

Luis Suarez made his first appearance of the Season following his 10-match ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.
The re-introduction of Suarez was proved indecisive as Liverpool went down 1-0 at Manchester United. Javier Hernandez struck just after half time to relieve pressure on his manager David Moyes, following United's humiliation at the hands of Manchester City at the weekend.
Arsenal avoided a cup upset away to West Brom, winning 4-3 on penalties. Arsenal took the lead just after the hour mark with Nicholas Bendtner threading a superb through ball to Thomas Eisfeld who finished smartly. Saido Berahino headed the equaliser 10 minutes later to send the game into extra time.
An impressive Birmingham performance proved too strong for League Cup holders Swansea as the Sky Bet Championship club won 3-1 on the night. Dan Burn headed home his first goal for the club in the 56th minute before Matt Green added a second from close range soon after. Tom Adayemi added a third before Wilfred Bony scored a last gasp consolation for Swansea who have been humbled following their astonishing 3-0 win away at Valencia in the Europa League, last week.
Elsewhere Newcastle Beat Leeds 2-0 and Stoke won 2-0 at League one Tranmere.
In the fourth-round draw: Arsenal face a home time against Chelsea, Manchester United will face Norwich at Old Trafford, Manchester City were drawn away at Newcastle, Tottenham face Hull and Birmingham City entertain Stoke City. Ties to be played on 29/30 October.
