The NBA has always been a league that gives players second and third chances and that's the case on Wednesday as the Miami Heat have signed Michael Beasley to a contract.

The troubled youngster has been arrested numerous times, the last this past summer for possession of marijuana, leading to the Phoenix Suns eating $7 million and releasing the young forward.
Beasley is returning to the team that made him the second overall pick in the 2008 draft, but alcohol problems led to his trade to Minnesota. The 24 year-old averaged career lows in points and rebounds last season with the Suns, but has averaged over 14 points per game in his career.
The Heat have made a couple strange signings this summer, adding Greg Oden who has played just 81 games since entering the league as the top overall pick by Portland in 2007.
Both of these young players fill a need for Miami as they lacked size in the paint and it hurt them against the bigger teams in the league. Beasley is a proven scorer and Oden should provide some solid defense, but both of these youngsters will need to stay on the basketball court to help their new team and possibly help lead the Heat to another NBA Championship.
