Harry Connick Jr. joins American Idol as third judge

On September 3, it was announced that veteran entertainer Harry Connick Jr. is going to be the third judge on the 13th season of American Idol.

As previously reported by Digital Journal, he will be joined by platinum-selling recording artist and actress Jennifer Lopez, who will be returning this season to American Idol XIII as judge, as well as country music star Keith Urban (who served as a judge in Season 12).
Throughout his career in the entertainment industry, Harry Connick Jr. has won three Grammy awards, two Primetime Emmy awards, and he has been garnered multiple Tony nominations for his stage acting on Broadway productions. As a musician, he has released 29 albums and he has sold 28 million units worldwide.
Former Idol judge Randy Jackson is expected to be returning to the reality singing competition as an in-house mentor and the show will be hosted yet again by Emmy-nominated host Ryan Seacrest.
