According to a report issued by Fars News, the 12 rockets were fired by the Syrian opposition, which inflicted damage to some residential buildings.
Alalam has also reported that during the attack, several farms had been set on fire.
In a similar attack, the Syrian opposition opened fire along the Iraqi border, killing one border guard, and injured others. These incursions come in the wake of the recent advances made by the Syrian army, whom recently gained control of Qusair, a key city formerly in the hands of the opposition.
Throughout the past few months, the Syrian army has been conducting major military operations in an attempt to liberate key cities and locations out of the hands of the opposition. Senator John McCain has quoted, "We are seeing, unfortunately, a battlefield situation where Bashar Assad now has the upper hand..."
The uprising in Syria began in February of 2011, which has ultimately claimed the lives of tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians. The foreign militancy in Syria has over time torn the nation apart, disrupting peace not only in the Arab Republic, but in neighboring countries as well.
