Elephant killed by poachers, Voi area, Kenya. Over 31,000 elephants were killed by poachers in Africa just last year says the Born Free Foundation.
According to several media outlets including the Enough Project and the Satellite Sentinel Project, the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) has resorted to poaching for years, to generate money for the purchasing of weapons, ammunition, and food, in a desperate struggle to keep the Ugandan guerrilla group under operation. In a market where the demand of ivory is ever-growing, Africa’s elephants have been endangered amid increasing elephant poaching, CNN's Faith Karimi reports.
Joseph Kony is among the world's most wanted criminals, accused of taking captive minors and turning them into soldiers, as well as girls and women as sex slaves. He is subject to a great manhunt, in which the United States Special Forces has taken part, by assisting and directing local forces to capture the alleged war criminal.
Despite significant international efforts to capture and bring the warlord to justice, the LRA still remains active between areas in Uganda and Sudan. Nearly every week, villages are destroyed, where women and children are taken captive by the LRA. They will eventually find themselves to become child soldiers or sex slaves, either way, victims to a criminal's ambition.
