According to the latest report from Heavy Reading Mobile Networks Insider, a subscription research service from Heavy Reading, mobile payment popularity is growing and quickly creating new bill payment options and revenue generation solutions capable of generating $1 trillion by 2015.
This week, Orange County, Florida residents are learning first hand about the benefits of mobile payments. Tax payers in the beautiful Florida community are gaining an entirely new and cutting edge tax payment option.
Point & Pay, a wholly-owned subsidiary of North American Bancard, announced Thursday that the Orange County Tax Collector’s Office has selected the company "over a field of competitors" to provide its electronic tax and fee payment systems for County residents.
As a result, residents in Orange County can now use credit cards, debit cards, and electronic checks to pay property taxes, vehicle tags, titles, and drivers’ licenses, and more.
“Our new agreement with Point & Pay is part of my mission to get results that make a difference for our families, workers and communities," explains Treasurer Scott Randolph. "I wanted a payment solution that would best position Florida for the future: people should be able to access their information and pay anytime, anywhere."
Although retailers continue to drive demand for mobile payments and the vast majority of credit card processing needs, government agencies around the United States are finding significant value in mobile payments.
“As the fifth most populous county in FL, Orange County’s selection of Point & Pay validates our effort to provide technically advanced products, abundant experience, and commitment to service to both our government clients and their citizens," boasts Kevin C. Connell, President of Point & Pay. "Scott Randolph is a visionary for the future of government, and we are pleased to have Orange County aboard."
