Rick Payette reported on Dec 29/12 that the soundtrack would be a smash .
One of the factors behind that is that most recording artists wait for a week or two following the holidays to release new recordings after the seasonal music for the holidays is put to bed and at the same time Hollywood often schedule their blockbuster productions to appear in cinemas over the very same holidays.
The soundtrack which is a 20 song long player from Republic Records was priced to sell at $5 per copy and was rush released four days before Christmas. 60% of the sales were from downloads and the hit single "I Dreamed A Dream" by actress Ann Hathaway has sold over 20,000 downloaded copies.
