Warner Bros. said Monday that front-running daytime talk shows such as "Ellen" and "Live! With Kelly and Michael" made it difficult for "Anderson Live" to "break through" to viewers.
Trying to draw more interest, the show switched to live broadcasts in its second year. However, "Anderson Live" still struggled to compete.
Talk-show newcomers, including Katie Couric's "Katie," also make it harder for Cooper's show to remain on the air.
Cooper released a statement, and said:
"I am very proud of the work that our terrific staff has put into launching and sustaining our show for two seasons. I am also grateful to Telepictures for giving me the opportunity, and indebted to viewers, who have responded so positively. I look forward to doing more great shows this season, and though I’m sorry we won’t be continuing, I have truly enjoyed it."
Cooper will remain the host until the second season is complete, and will continue as the host of CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."
