Op-Ed: Canada tightens border security in case Romney wins

Barack Obama may be losing ground to Mitt Romney so, just in case there is an exodus of Americans seeking socialized health care after the election, Canada is tightening its borders.

Canada is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. Canada is a federation comprising ten provinces and three territories.
Romney appears to have some disdain for the lower 47 percent of Americans, and he is also threatening to undo much of the work that has been put into Obama-care. For some reason, due largely it seems to one lousy debate, Romney is showing strongly in the polls. As a result, there has been an 'increase in chatter' indicating that a significant number of Americans may attempt to immigrate illegally into Canada after the election.
“We’ve been intercepting troubling comments from some very freaked-out people,” said Randolph McTavish, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
As reported in The New Yorker's Borowitz report,* McTavish announced today that Canada is increasing security along the US-Canadian border. The RCMP will be patrolling every kilometre of the border.
McTavish also warned Americans not to try to sneak across the border and pretend to be Canadian, as it is not that easy to keep up the facade. "It is very difficult, if not impossible, to pretend to like hockey," he joked.
McTavish was sympathetic to Americans who want to experience life in Canada, including its socialized medical system. However, he added, "At the end of the day, 47 percent of Americans is more than Canada can handle."
