According to Associated Press, a person close to the Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper said she has been in talks with Fox TV for the last slot in the three-man judging panel of American Idol.
Fox TV declined to confirm or deny the report.
Despite no official confirmation from “Idol” or FOX, one source said the outlandish “Super Bass” singer is “100% confirmed” while another told the mag Nicki is “definitely doing it,” American writes.
If Minaj is confirmed, she will join Mariah Carey in the judging panel along with the original American Idol judge Randy Jackson.
Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler who served as judges of the last season of American Idol have announced their exit from the show last month.
Nicki Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj was born in Trinidad and Tobago but grew up in New York City boroughs of Queens. She attended LaGuardia High School and later specialized in music and visual arts.
The reports did not say how much she will get as judge of the next season of American Idol if she gets confirmed.
Mariah Carey is reportedly getting at least US$17 million according to a Reuters report.
While Minaj appears to have gotten the last slot on the bag, Carey seems to favor Lenny Kravitz, her candidate for the spot.
American Idol fans await Fox's announcement of next judge of American Idol.
