The Vancouver Sun reported today that Bale has been visiting with the victims and their families in Denver. He reportedly arrived at the Medical Center of Aurora South in an ambulance, perhaps to avoid extra publicity.
One shooting victim currently in the hospital, Carey Rottman, posted a Facebook photo of his visit with Bale. He wrote: "Wow!!! Thank you so much for the visit Christian!! What a great guy! Still in shock!"
Rottman was one of 71 people shot, allegedly by Holmes, at the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises. Twelve people died in the mass shooting.
A statement from Warner Bros. indicates "Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers."
Two days ago, Bale released a statement expressing his condolences for the shooting victims. "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them," he said in the statement, which was released by his publicist.
