Global Travel Industry News reports that early Monday morning a woman attempted a copycat suicide jump but the authorities intervened by helicopter and stopped her.
Security has been increased around the famous tourist attraction.
Despite attempts to secure the Eiffel Tower and install preventative measures, people manage to jump. The first successful suicide there occurred July 15th, 1898 when a 23-year-old man hung himself from one of the beams. Since its construction over 120 years ago, approximately 400 people have used the tower to kill themselves.
