George Lindsey from 'The Andy Griffith Show' dies

George Lindsey, who spent over 30 years acting on "The Andy Griffith Show" as the grinning Goober, has passed away at the age of 83.

A press release from Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home in Nashville reports the 83 year old passed away after fighting a brief illness at 12:05 AM on Sunday, May 6th 2012. Lindsey was Born in Fairfield, Ala., on December 17, 1928.
His TV credits also include M-A-S-H, "The Wonderful World of Disney," "CHIPs," "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour," "The Real McCoys," "Rifleman," "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour," "Twilight Zone" and "Love American Style."
His Movie credits include "Cannonball Run II" and "Take This Job and Shove It." His voice was used in animated Walt Disney features including "The Aristocats," "The Rescuers" and "Robin Hood."
Funeral arrangements are still being made.
