Obama Sr. too was feared 'anti-American' and 'anti-White'
It has been revealed that that President Obama's Kenyan father Hussein Obama Sr. was also the subject of unsubstantiated speculations that claimed he was "anti-American" and "anti-White" when he came to the United States in 1959 for academic studies.
When Obama Sr. won a scholarship to study in Hawaii, British colonial and American officials felt that Obama Sr. and other Kenyan students who came on a scholarship to study in Hawaii, were not only academically "inferior" but were also prone to turning "anti-American," and "anti-White."
reports that a memo from a British diplomat in Washington to Whitehall, recently released by the National Archives in West London, expressed fears about Obama Sr. and his Kenyan colleagues. The memo dated September 1, 1959, read: "I have discussed with the State Department. They are as disturbed about these developments as we are. They point out that Kenya students have a bad reputation over here for falling into the wrong hands and for becoming both anti-American and anti-white."
According to Daily Mail
, the U.S. and British officials were suspicious of the African American Students Foundation (AASF) that sponsored the group of Kenyan students. They claimed that AASF had links to a radical Kenyan nationalist Tom Mboya
. A letter from the British Embassy in Washington read: "The motives behind this enterprise, therefore, seem more political than educational. The arrival here of these students, many of them of indifferent academic calibre and ill-prepared for the venture, is likely to give rise to difficult problems."
Many conservative sites are already quoting the documents as new "shocking" evidence that Barack Hussein Obama Sr. had ties with "Kenyan terrorist groups," and have invoked the principle of guilt by association to infer that President Obama is tied "to communist sleeper cells and long range plots to undermine American democracy."
, for instance, accuses the Obama "crime family" of a generational conspiracy against "Christianity and the American democracy." The website said: "Documents released this week by the British Foreign Secretary reveal that the president’s father, Barack Hussein Obama, Senior, was the target of an international investigation due to his ties to Kenyan terrorists groups. The top secret files, which had been suppressed for decades, were privately condemned by administration officials who feared they would undermine the president as polls show him trailing Republican contender Mitt Romney by at least five points. They also highlight the mounting public evidence tying Barack Jr. to communist sleeper cells and long range plots to undermine American democracy."
The right-wing site then goes on to remind readers of the "disturbing Obama news...leaked today that the President frequently ate dog meat as a child," and concludes erroneously
that Obama "is the first and only United States President to have ever eaten a family pet." Digital Journal
report shows, however, that the claim that Obama ate a "family pet" is misleading.
A reader commenting on Daily Mail
observed that claims that Obama Sr. was linked to "Kenyan terrorists" fail to take into account the historical context of the anti-colonial struggle in the 1950s and the natural tendency of British colonialists to categorize African nationalists who opposed British colonial rule as "terrorists," even as they did American leaders in the American War of Independence.
