The Jerusalem Post reports that the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court have now released details of the arrests.
According to police statements, two weeks ago, the two women arrived at the 70-year-old French chemistry expert’s Tel Aviv apartment stabbed him to death and stole NIS 2,000 (US$520) and a television screen from his home.
Ynet news state that emergency responders found Dr. Lazuz, known as a quiet man by neighbours, with stab wounds in a burned out home in Central Tel Aviv’s popular Dizengoff Street. Lazuz stayed in the second floor apartment during visits to Israel.
Police suspect the murderers set fire to the home to cover up evidence of the crime.
According to Israel’s Ynet news, although the murder scene was almost completely burned, one note with a phone number led to the breakthrough in investigating the murder.
After the police uncovered that the killer was invited to the apartment, the investigators suspected the involvement of an escort girl. Tel Aviv central vice unit helped narrow down the options from dozens of potential numbers on Lazuz's personal phone.
The court have issued a gag order to protect the identity of the suspects who remain in custody.
