In a story that takes the concept of "drive-thru" to a whole new level, a California man crashed his SUV into a Starbucks coffee shop after he fell asleep at the wheel. One person is in critical condition.
The 24-year-old driver managed to jump his SUV over the curb and off the road. He crashed into the side of a Starbucks, pinning one innocent bystander against the building.
The crash happened just after 7 pm Tuesday along the 600 block of W. Ventura Street.
The Fillmore Gazette reports that in addition to the man who was pinned up against the building, there were two other people who had sustained injuries, including the driver. They were taken to Ventura Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities have stated that they do not believe that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the crash.
According to KTLA, the vehicle involved is registered to a man named Michael Cedarland, although authorities have not confirmed if in fact he was the driver in the incident.
The Starbucks has now been red-tagged, along with a neighboring business that suffered damage.
