A flight leaving Denver bound for LAX had to make an emergency landing Sunday after the aircraft lost one of its two engines shortly after takeoff.
According to KTLA, the United Airlines Boeing 757 Flight 321 made the emergency landing at the Grand Junction Regional Airport, which is not equipped to normally handle large aircraft. The plane landed at the airport at approximately 10:44 am.
There were reportedly 125 people on-board, along with 6 crew members. There were no reports of injury, and the landing was said to be uneventful. Passengers on-board applauded the pilot's efforts.
CBS Los Angeles states that another plane was sent to pick up the passengers and take them on to LAX at around 1:30, with an expected arrival time into LAX at around 3:28 pm.
Another LAX-bound flight had to make an emergency landing in Lubbock, TX last Sunday, after the pilot reported that the right engine was not functioning.
