Opening reception at Art Seen 107 gallery featured Alex Amini Special
An Opening Reception was held at Art Seen 107 gallery in Bentonville, Arkansas and featured the works of internationally renowned multimedia artist, Alex Amini. The gallery will officially open on October 27.

The Opening Reception for the Art Seen 107 gallery featured a solo exhibit of works by Alex Amini called Recordings. While it may have been a solo exhibit, it was also a family affair. Alex’s wife, Farnaz Mansuri-Amini, attended the reception along with his brother, Dario Amini. Dario is the husband of gallery owner and director Boyce Ann Billingsley whose mother, Boyce Billingsley, and sister, Kelly Billingsley Jones, were on hand to toast the upcoming opening of Art Seen 107 and celebrate Alex’s work.

When asked about the origins of this exhibit, Amini, 47, said that it is the result of a process that began during the time he studied architecture in 1982 and painting in 1987. As Amini reflected on the question, he then added, “My process in painting began when I first studied imagining.” One example he gave was this: How would prehistoric man imagine mirrors?
Amini was born in Stuttgart, Germany and raised partially in Iran, Switzerland, Italy, and the United States. He studied architecture at the Pratt Institute and Cooper Union in New York. Amini has an extensive and wide-ranging
portfolio of work, and has participated in group shows at the Chelsea Arts Building, NY (1999), Passo blu Gallery, Genoa, Italy (2004), and exhibited at La Talpa e L’orologio, Imperia, Italy, where he had a studio. After returning to the U.S. in 2006, Amini began working on a new series with mixed media on digital photo paper, Recordings, that according to Art Seen 107, won "an Honors Award at a New York University competition for small works leading to the ‘dematerialization’ Installations, which showed at Project B in Milan 2010."
The exhibit at Art Seen 107 is Amini's "first solo show" in the United States, and a selection of his Untitled, Ink on Photo Paper works, Recordings, are seen below.

Boyce Ann Billingsley, Art Seen 107 owner and director, notes that
the gallery aims at introducing international artists who live and work in the United States alongside the American artists "and whose point of views are both defined by the context of where they live and work and the intersection of their cultural perceptions."
