With the season opening next week, teams are force to cut an 80-man roster down to 53 by Sunday morning. Some people are expected to be gone, but despite the known players getting cut, there are some surprises.

The Miami Dolphins made headlines after giving former Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson another chance, but it did not last long as he was cut today to make space. Johnson did not even get a real chance to show what he could do as he just signed a contract last week.
They also cut corner back Will Allen who had been with the Dolphins since 2006, and recorded 152 solo tackles with 4 sacks and 7 interceptions. Allen started 69 games for the Dolphins, but only played in 6 games last year.
The Jacksonville Jaguars released backup running back Rashad Jennings along with safety Don Carey, who started 10 games last year for the Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers look like they cleaned house with defensive tackles Corvey Irvin and Nick Hayden, running backs Tyrell Sutton and Josh Vaughan, and fullback Tony Fiammetta.
The Panthers also cut wide receivers Wallace Wright, Charly Martin, Darvin Adams and Jamorris Warren; tight end Greg Smith; offensive linemen Ryan Pugh, Jacob Bender and John Gianninoto; defensive linemen Malcolm Tatum, Ugo Chinasa and DelJuan Robinson; linebackers Lawrence Wilson and Sean Ware; cornerbacks Robert McClain, Chevis Jackson, C.J. Wilson and Kendric Burney; safety Michael Greco and kicker Adi Kunalic.
The Dallas Cowboys cut defensive lineman Igor Olshansky, along with starting fullback last year Chris Gronkowski. The Cowboys also let go of some kickers in Shayne Graham and Dave Rayner.
The Chicago Bears told Chester Taylor earlier in the week that he was no longer in the plans, but still wanted him to practice. Today the Bears cut ties with Taylor as they look to get Matt Forte and Marion Barber more carries in a two-back attack.

Taylor had a bit of a bumpy ride as he did not play in the third preseason game at Tennessee and left team headquarters thinking he had been released after a meeting with coach Lovie Smith on Monday. He then played in the game against Cleveland Browns on Thursday for the preseason finale, but only got 27 yards on 10 attempts.
The Bears also cut ties with tight end Desmond Clark and defensive tackle Marcus Harrison. Clark was a stable tight end for the Bears, and is a bit surprising after they lost Greg Olson to the Carolina Panthers this past off-season.
The Cleveland Browns released one of the most
