A new poll by Ipsos Reid – commissioned by National Post, Global TV and Newstalk 1010 – shows that Toronto mayoral candidate Rob Ford is still supported by the public, despite controversial immigration comments and an impaired driving charge in Florida more than a decade ago.
According to the latest poll, Ford is in first place with 32 per cent, Smitherman is second place with 21 per cent, Thomson is in third with 10 per cent, Pantalone stands at fourth with 9 per cent, Rossi is in fifth with 7 per cent and 4 per cent chose “other.” However, 25 per cent are still undecided.
Ipsos Reid pollster John Wright told the National Post: “Rob Ford has a very simple message: ‘I’m going to put the customer service back in City Hall, and we’re going to kick some butt.’ It may sound like a pretty simple methodology, but it’s worked.”
The telephone survey was conducted among 400 Torontonians between Aug. 20 and Aug. 22. It contains a margin of error of +/- 4.9 percent.
