Armless Filipina pilot inspires US President Obama

Jessica Cox, an armless Filipino-American lady pilot from Arizona was a recent guest at the White House as president Obama unveiled a package of measures to help Americans with disabilities.

Jessica Cox is the first woman pilot licensed to fly an aircraft using her feet.
Cox, who was born without arms, has grabbed news headlines early this year when she became the first woman pilot in aviation history without arms.
A psychology graduate at the University of Arizona, the 26-year-old Cox does more than normal woman her age do with the use of her feet.
Jessica Cox suffered a rare birth defect and was born without any arms. Today she can write, drive a car, brush her hair and talk on her phone.
She is a former dancer and double black belt in Tai Kwon-Do. She has a no-restrictions driving license, she flies planes and she can type 25 words a minute
Filipino-American Jessica Cox was with a smaller group who got a private audience with President Obama earlier in the day.
“He said thank you for being an inspiration and I said thank you, it’s an honor to meet you,” Cox said.
Cox also works as a motivational speaker. She was off to catch a big air show in Wisconsin after meeting with President Obama.
“I’ll be there giving presentations and meeting celebrities like Harrison Ford and (Captain Chesley) “Sully” Sullenberger and John Travolta whose first airplane he ever owned was an Air Coupe, which is the airplane I fly, so I’m looking forward to meeting him,” said Cox.
