Luke Stutzman of Amish Wedding Foods

Stutzman said that the Millersburg manufacturing facility Troyer Cheese began producing the Amish Wedding Foods Product line in 2008.
Amish Wedding Foods Product have been well received by consumers searching a high quality, good tasting food like the pumpkin butter and sweet potato butter they make and distribute under a variety of labels
When asked how many jars of these foods may have been distributed and in home and stores today, Stutzman was not sure on the total count.
The problem with the current products that are on the market is the in PH level being to high which can create the conditions needed for botulism to develop.
Troyer Cheese will soon change the Amish Wedding Foods brands manufacturing process to lower the acid which in turn will eliminate the concerns they have now with the products that are already being distributed in many different stores across the country, said Stutzman.
The recalled Sweet Potato Butter and Pumpkin Butter were sold to distributors and retailers in the following states: AL. AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY.
The popularity of food products with the "Amish labels" have increased steadily over the past 20 years as more research continues on preservatives. Also there are growing concerns with health problems from pesticides used on plants, vegetables and fruits grown as pointed out in another news story by Stephanie Dearing today on a study on Pesticides and ADD/ADHD.
A recent report in The Tennessean suggests Amish breads, cheeses, pickles, jams and relishes are finding new fans in middle Tennessee. Non-Amish eaters who pointedly avoid preservatives are now regular customers at the nation's southernmost Amish produce auction and Michael Yates' Amishables in Brentwood, Tennessee and this trend is widespread.
Botulism is a rare but serious paralytic illness caused by a nerve toxin that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Foodborne botulism is a severe type of food poisoning caused by the ingestion of foods containing the potent neurotoxin formed during growth of the organism. The incidence of the disease is low, but the disease is of considerable concern because of its high mortality rate if not treated immediately and properly says Foodborne Illness.
Classic symptoms of botulism include double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, and muscle weakness. Infants with botulism appear lethargic, feed poorly, are constipated, and have a weak cry and poor muscle tone.
said ,"Most of the 10 to 30 outbreaks that are reported annually in the United States are associated with inadequately processed, home-canned foods, but occasionally commercially produced foods are implicated as the source."
