As stated at the beginning of this article, he is best known for his role of Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. For many people, his is the definitive portrayal of Mr. Darcy. It is most likely for that reason that he was cast to play Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’ Diary.
Firth is best known for the romantic type of roles he has played in Love Actually and Bridget Jones’ Diary but he has portrayed many different characters throughout his long career. He is much more than just another pretty face. This surely is just the first of many Oscar nominations to come for this talented actor.
