Pittsburgh Pirates looked to bolster their bullpen and did so by signing relief pitcher Brenden Donnelly to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.
The Pittsburgh Pirates added depth to their bullpen by signing relief pitcher Brenden Donnelly. Brendan Donnelly and the Pirates agreed to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million, pending him passing a physical exam. The deal includes performance bonuses that could have him making $3 million by the end of the season.
Brenden Donnelly has a 29-9 career record with a 3.02 ERA in eight seasons with four different teams. Last season with the Florida Marlins, Donnelly was 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA in thirty appearances. Pittsburgh's bullpen last year was 18-28 and tied for 25th place in the majors with a 4.61 ERA.
