The #8 Tennessee Volunteers dropped their game Saturday to the USC Trojans out in California. Alex Stephenson and Mike Gerrity lead the way for the Trojans in the upset.
The Tennessee Volunteers ranked #8 in the country headed out to California to play the USC Trojans only to get sacked themselves. The Trojans jumped out early taking the lead in the opening couple of minutes and never gave it back, going into the locker room at half time up by 13 points. Right before half Tennessee tried to close the gap with 4:48 left they were able to get the Trojan lead down to 1 point, but couldn't turn the page as they were only able to score 4 more points until half-time.
USC was lead by Alex Stephenson who scored 19 points and had a career high 15 rebounds, while teammate Mike Gerrity poured in 12 points and 10 assists. Dwight Lewis lead all scorers with 21 points. Only one player from Tennessee was in doubt digits.
The Volunteers shot a dismal 34.5 percent from the field and 2 for 22 from behind the 3-point arch. USC's shot 56.1 percent and where 3 for 7 for 42.9 percent from behind the 3 point arch. Tennessee found themselves out rebounded 51 to 23, in a night that just never went the Volunteers' way. This was the worst defeat for Tennessee under Bruce Pearl.
