On November 22 he passed away from lung cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Jacksoul won a Junos in 2001 and 2007 for R&B/Soul Recording. He was part of Humber College's 2007 session of the Humber Songwriting Workshop.
Billboard reports:
“I think music can heal and educate,” Neale said of the new album. “If jacksoul never makes another recording, I’ll always be proud that our music was a positive force for not just love between couples, but love of self, community and the world.”
