Toronto's streetcar.
The announcement comes just a day after the TTC said they were planning on upping the fares in January. That increase will see the adult
pass go to $126.
While there is underground talk of a riders strike
CP24 reports that ridership was not affected on Friday.
Because the new fares will make adult tokens 50 cents less than the cash fare some people are starting to buy larger quantities. That is not going over well, with the TTC limiting the number of tokens a person can buy at the subway to just five.
I asked those who will be the ones paying the higher fees, passengers, about their views of the rate increase at a local bus stop on Bathurst. Not one passenger I spoke to was in favor of the fare going up but they did understand why it will happen. Three of the passengers agreed to be videotaped and their responses are on the above video.
The news of university students being allowed to use student passes though had very positive responses. Students I spoke with were happy that the TTC saw that they have limited funds and need the TTC to get around town. Parents also were happy to have to pay less a month for their older children still at home.
