Former Senator of New York and wife to former President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, told NBC’s Ann Curry three times that she would never run for President again, “This is a great job. It is a 24-7 job. And I am looking forward to retirement at some point,” according to CNN.
Clinton lost the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination to then Senator of Illinois Barack Obama. It would be expected that if she did decide to run again it would be in 2016 when she would turn 69.
According to Canada.com, Clinton’s decision is a surprise to the Democrats because some analysts and officials believe she still has ambitions to become the nation’s first female President.
In an interview broadcast on Monday she also reaffirmed, according to the Washington Post, that her voice is being heard in the Obama administration. Some media outlets report that her advice and suggestions are being ignored within administration.
“Maybe there is some misunderstanding which needs to be clarified. I believe in delegating power. You know, I am not one of these people who feels like I have to have my face in the front of the newspaper or on the TV every moment of the day. I would be irresponsible and negligent were I to say 'Oh no everything must come to me.”
