Posted Sep 11, 2009 by Jane Fazackarley
The north of Israel has been hit by two rockets launched by Lebanon. The information available at the moment suggests that no one was injured nor was there any noticeable damage caused.
Police say the remainder of a Katyusha rocket was discovered in Israel.
This isn't the first time the two countries have clashed. Israel and Hezbollah, who are based in Lebanon went to war in 2006. The war lasted 34 days and the effects of it devastated the area.
The war began after Hezbollah crossed over into Israel and captured two soldiers and killed other members of the Israeli military.
In Lebanon over 1000 people were killed as a result of the conflict and 160 people on Israel's side were killed. Most of the casualties were members of the Israeli army. The war also meant that hundreds and thousands of people had to leave their homes and the damage to the area was extensive. A ceasefire was eventually drawn up on August the 11th 2006.
This news of the rocket strike was just being reported at the time of writing and no further information is currently available.
