Youth groups want action against global warming

The conference held at the South Korean city of Daejeon was organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). In the open forum setting, the meeting gave the youth an opportunity to voice out their opinion and to demand action against the worldwide problem of global warming and climate change. According to Achim Steiner, UNEP executive director, the meeting of minds between youth groups was the first step in solving environmental issues and "will inherit the outcome of the decisions taken in December and beyond." Steiner was, of course, referring to December's meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark that will tackle the aforementioned issues. Delegates who attended the meeting hail from Thailand, Russia, Nepal, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Switzerland and the United States to name a few. The delegates also took part and are promoting the "Seal The Deal" campaign --a petition for a fair climate change agreement for December's Copenhagen conference.
