According to Yemen's official news agency, the interior ministry has authorized tighter security in Yemen's capital due to fear of rebel attacks and worker abductions. Security forces have been placed on high alert against the rebels and to make "mincemeat" of the rebels if they appear in Sanaa.
The new initiative comes after government forces have battled with Shiite rebels, which are led by Abdul Malik al-Houthi. Majority of battles have come in the northern part of the region in the Sunni Muslim country.
172 deaths have been reported since the cease fire in July 2008 between Houthi followers and the government.
