Admiral Michael Mullen the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff admitted that they will have a tough time in battling the Taliban insurgents.
In an interview with BBC's Arabic TV service, he was also quoted saying that the counter-insurgency will ultimately fall at the hands of the Afghan people themselves.
However, If that's the case -- It would be a lot tougher, as most Afghan citizens view the Taliban insurgents as liberators rather than terrorist.
At the moment there are about 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan mainly US, British and Canadian forces who were locked up to ensure the security of the people.
In recent weeks, the military casualties have ballooned due to clashes between Taliban forces who were closely positioned in the vicinities of voting precincts -- to ensure a safe presidential and provincial elections come August 20.
