Wallet Stolen in 1982 Found in New York Tree

According to
news sources, a diligent tree-care supervisor in New York City’s Central Park found an old wallet under five feet of compost in the hollow of a dying cherry tree. It was found near where a pickpocket stole it from Ruth Bendik as she watched the New York City Marathon back in 1982.
The blue wallet was a poignant time capsule for the now 69- year-old Upper East Side resident who is its owner. Although her cash was missing, all of her credit cards were still in place as well as her student ID from Columbia University Teacher’s College and an employee ID from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Memories are often unbidden and sometimes they spring from the strangest of places.
